Current Projects (March 2016)
During the December, 2015 storms, the area surrounding the Port’s boat launch area and marina received an additional 11,000 cubic yards of siltation. Also, the Port lost two of the pilings on its debris boom. The Port filed a FEMA claim on the damages. The Port had previously filed for a dredging permit with the Corps of Engineers and the Oregon Department of State Lands. The Port is part of the South Ports Coalition and is now scheduled to use the State’s newly purchased dredge during the in-water work season, which begins on November 1, 2016. After the dredging is completed, repairs will be made to the debris boom.
The Port’s maintenance staff is currently making repairs to the commercial dock. In addition, they are numbering the side-tie slips on the recreational docks; boaters wanting moorage will now be assigned specific sites on the docks to moor.
